The Swedish National Board of Forensic Medicine organized the 13th Nordic Symposium on Forensic Psychiatry in Gothenburg, Sweden on – 2019. The theme was Forensic Psychiatry in a Lifestyle Perspective: Development, Treatment and Prevention. The Swedish Association for Forensic Psychiatry participated in the planning of the symposium. There were 215 participants from the Nordic countries. Many presentations are available on the website of the symposium. The symposium has been organized in different Nordic countries every other year since 1994. The next symposium is planned for Helsinki, Finland on – 2021.

SBU reports on treatment
In June 2018 the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) published two assessments on treatments in Swedish forensic psychiatry:
- Pharmaceutical treatment in forensic psychiatric care
- Psychological and psychosocial interventions in forensic psychiatric care
